If you don’t have employer or insurer coverage, fees may apply since many virtual services aren’t covered by provincial health plans. We also offer specialists in several provinces such as dermatologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians, and more. If you’re in BC and you have a BC Services Card, you can request a video consultation at no charge to you. Learn more.

If you’re not a BC resident, and if a video consultation is required for your case, the doctor or nurse practitioner will let you know ahead of time, and you can choose whether to continue or not.

Set hours of access

MD Connected operates during set hours on weekdays and weekends – there is no option for 24/7 access.

Depending on the time of your requested consultation, you may not be able to see a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Possible fees for outdated provincial insurance

MD Connected charges a $20 administrative fee if your OHIP card information isn’t up to date, plus the cost of your visit.

This means you must ensure your health card information is accurate and up to date.

Comparatively less specialists

MD Connected offers less than 10 specialties including urology, pediatrics, mental health, HIV PrEp and PEP, and sexual health.

You might not be able to speak to the type of healthcare provider you need. 

No text chat available

To use MD Connected, you must schedule a video or phone consultation with the physician. Text chat is not available.

You won’t have the option of a consultation solely over text messaging, if this is what you prefer.
