Can you tell us more about your medical background and education?
I completed my training in Michigan, and am a both Canadian and American board certified family physician. I am also certified in cosmetic medicine. I joined Maple because of my passion for telemedicine, as I believe virtual healthcare is the future. Diversity in medicine is also a passion of mine. I chose family medicine as my speciality as I enjoy the continuity with patients, and the variety this field offers.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
I was inspired by my passion for helping others, and curiosity about how the body works. My interest in healthcare began with volunteering in nursing homes and hospitals, which then continued to research in cardiology labs. The evolution of medicine over time has always been interesting to me.
What do you love the most about practising medicine?
The best part about medicine is the gratification when your patients feel better. With whatever type of medicine, providing a positive change in someone’s physical or mental health brings an irreplaceable feeling.
What’s your favourite part about practising on Maple?
Maple offers efficient, easy access to healthcare. I love the convenience and simplicity behind Maple’s system. The evolution of virtual medicine has been fascinating to me, and Maple is an excellent example of how well it can work.
What’s the most challenging aspect of working in the medical field?
The most challenging part of medicine for me is to share difficult news with patients, especially those I have established strong relationships with. We all are human, and it can be difficult to hide emotions.
If you could choose any other career, what would it be?
Medicine will always be my career of choice. Given my passion for skincare, dermatology would be my next choice of speciality.
What do you do in your spare time?
When I am not practising medicine I enjoy yoga, beaches, travelling, and spending time with friends and family.
