If you don’t have employer or insurer coverage, fees may apply since many virtual services aren’t covered by provincial health plans. If you’re not a BC resident, and if a video consultation is required for your case, the doctor or nurse practitioner will let you know ahead of time, and you can choose whether to continue or not.

To ensure Canadians have access to a healthcare provider whenever they need it, Maple is available on-demand or by appointment across Canada.

In BC, video visits with general practitioners are covered by MSP.

Appletree Virtual doesn’t offer on-demand visits. You must be willing to wait for a video consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Depending on the availability of healthcare providers, you’ll have to wait as your appointment may not occur instantly.

You must find and select the doctor or nurse practitioner you want to see, making the booking process more complicated.

This means it may take more time for you to find the right healthcare provider to schedule an appointment with.

Only phone or video appointments – no text option available

To use Appletree Virtual, you must schedule a video or phone consultation with a healthcare provider.

Only video or phone appointments – there is no option to connect with a healthcare provider via secure text messaging.

$25 no-show fee

If you miss your appointment, Appletree Virtual could charge you a $25 no-show fee.

This means you could be charged even if you don’t see a doctor or nurse practitioner.
