Learn more about Ask The Doctor

Not a live doctor’s visit

Ask the Doctor allows you to get a doctor’s response to a medical question via email. You can visit their website and ask a question, and one of their doctors will reply via email for a fee of $18.

Doctors cannot provide a diagnosis or medical treatment via Ask the Doctor.

No prescriptions

Doctors can answer questions about medication on Ask the Doctor, but they cannot give you a prescription.

Only licensed, medical physicians in Canada can prescribe you medications as part of a medical visit.

No medical notes

If a medical note is what you’re looking for, you’ll need to speak to a Canadian-licensed physician who can assess you and provide a note as necessary.

You can only get a sick note by having a medical consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner — whether it’s in person or via a telemedicine service like Maple.

Not a health record-keeping solution

If you need a convenient way to access and store your own personal medical records, Ask the Doctor does not provide this feature.

There are currently only a few providers in Canada that let you securely access and store your private health information — Maple is one of them.
