Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Maple Alberta Health GP service if I have a family doctor?
Yes. However, the primary goal of the Alberta Health GP program is to improve access to healthcare for those who don’t have a family doctor, live in rural or underserved areas, or can’t travel. We always recommend contacting your family physician first. If you use Maple, we recommend sharing the records with your family physician after your visit.
How long will I have to wait to see a General Practitioner, covered by AHCIP?
Visits are all on-demand. You’ll be connected with a doctor in under 2 hours, provided you’ve entered your health card. Visits are conducted through Maple using audio or video on weekdays from 10am to 8pm MST. This service is brought to you by Maple Maskawâhtik.

How do you ensure continuity of care on Maple?
Maple generates a summary after each consultation. Patients and their consulting doctors can view these summaries at any time. To ensure continuity of care, patients are encouraged to fax their consultation summaries directly from their Maple account to their primary care provider, if they have one, or anyone in their broader care team. The summaries can also be consulted for any future Maple visits unless patients choose to keep their history private.
Maple is actively working towards integrating its platform with Alberta’s provincial electronic health record, Netcare. Once complete, this will enable information captured during Maple visits to be automatically uploaded to Netcare for more comprehensive record-keeping across the system.
